Awesome debut at Lione’s…

We had an awesome debut at Lione's Pizza and Restaurant. Our hiatus had no effect on us; in fact we came back energized and excited to be back rockin' out. And, of course, it was great to see again so many family and friends.

A new place means new people who haven't seen us before and the feedback from them was so positive. And Lione's staff was impressed as well as a few told us we "killed it."

It was a hot night to start so there were only a few dancers initially. But, after the sun set and it was just warm the dance floor heated up and stayed packed the rest of the night.

We were so impressed with Lione's as a venue for live music. (It is obviously a great bar and restaurant as well.) We played outside on the patio out back (we were covered thankfully) and they opened the huge sliding doors so the bar becomes part of the action. It was a great crowd.

Of course we went part curfew and as usual were requested strongly to play one more song. Naturally we were happy to oblige.

Thanks to Carlo for inviting us to play; he definitely wants us back so we're going to see if we can squeeze one more gig in this year. If not, we'll return in 2025.

And thanks to the entire Lione's crew for their hard work all night long.

Next up for us is Tom's in Royersford- a favorite venue of ours. That's this coming Friday, July 19th. Music starts at 8pm.

Crushed it at Puck Live…

We crushed it at The Puck. Great night as the place was standing room only and the dance floor was in use all night. An awesome crowd that spanned all ages and everyone there was energetic and enthusiastic from the first note to the last crash of the cymbals. A lot of new faces mixed in with many of our regulars.

We blew through our designated curfew finishing up the scheduled portion of the gig with our favorite crowd participation tunes: Sweet Child, Fight For Your Right, and Highway to Hell. Folks swarmed the front of the stage to help us out, belting out the lyrics along with James. But even that was not enough as everyone was chanting "one more song" and "encore." Of course we were happy to oblige their request.

Another fun, fun night.

We had a great set-up courtesy of The Puck: nice actual stage with a killer sound system (complete with excellent sound man, Dave) and full complement of lights as well.

The Puck is a cool venue offering a wide range of delicious beverages with the emphasis of course on beers. When the kitchen is up and running that place will be an unbeatable venue.

We now head into our longest break of the year. We're going to spend time with our families vacationing and staycationing, grilling and chilling, and celebrating graduations, birthdays, and anniversaries, etc. We pick things back up in July at another new venue, Lione's in Downingtown.

Thanks again to all who came out last night and thanks for your ongoing support of the band. As James always says: we couldn't do this without you. And as I always say: stay safe and healthy and be kind to one another. And keep on rockin'.

Wild night at Marchwood Tavern…

A wild night at Marchwood Tavern. We love that place and it loves us back. Good crowd as usual with a lot of our regular "peeps." A lot of dancing also as usual. We have a group that loves to let it loose on the dance floor. And last night we were treated with a group of very enthusiastic "dancers" with, uh, some unorthodox dance moves. (James was in peril most of the night as they were "doing their thing" within inches of him.)

Fun night.

Thanks again to all who came out and to the Marchwood Tavern crew for taking care of things all night long.

This coming Friday, June 7, we are heading to Great Barn Taphouse at Puck Live. Music starts at 7pm. Hope to see you there.

In the meantime, stay safe and healthy and be kind to one another. And keep on rocki

Catching up; Skippack Spring Tour…

I’ve missed a few weeks blogging. Suffice it to say we’ve been busy with gigs almost every weekend. We’ve rocked Big Phil’s, The Trum Tavern, Cabana Bar, and Dutch Cottage Tavern since my lost post. All have been successful gigs with great crowds. Here are more specific details of Cabana Bar and The Dutch.

Awesome night at Cabana Bar. Our first outdoor gig of the year and the weather gods delivered near perfect conditions: mild temps, little breeze, and a moon shining down brightly on us. The great weather brought out a huge crowd as the bar was packed all night with the usual mix of family, friends, and fans (new and old.) All were singing along with us and dancing in place. As we often say, a fun time was had by all. Thanks to all who came out.

Not going to lie. Things at The Dutch started off a little slow and we were thinking maybe this was going to be one of those off nights...but then things changed quickly and it turned into one of those nights that was crazy and in a very good way. Not sure what it was but near the end of our first set it was like a couple buses unloaded out front. People kept pouring in and the place was packed- inside and out. And everyone was in a party mood, singing, dancing, playing cornhole, eating, and drinking. We dug it of course, so much so that we played through what would have been our second break. We just didn't want the vibes to stop. We were energized and, of course, we played through curfew when the chants for one more song reverberated throughout the place. We're always happy to oblige. Great night and we thank all who came out and the wonderful staff at the Dutch who worked hard all night.

We're off for the holiday weekend but we resume our schedule on June 1st at Marchwood Tavern in Exton. Mark your calendars for a 9pm start time.

In the meantime, stay safe and healthy and be kind to one another. And keep on rockin'.

Can’t top The Tap…

We just keep rollin' along. Last night we returned to The Local Tap, known for its excellent beers and cocktails (and some new food items as well. We had the "slutty fries" and they were awesome!) It was also known last night for great classic rock tunes because we brought the sound track for a fun evening. We were blessed to have many of our friends and fans on hand but also lots of Lansdale locals. The newbies dug us and were boppin' to and singing along with the music- one favorite song after another.

Special thanks to Diane and Christine who were working the bar and kept busy all night.

We have one more gig to go in this stretch- Big Phil's in Pottstown. Were excited to get back there because it's always a raucous time.

Thanks for your support- we couldn't do this without it. Hope to see you soon (next week?) In the meantime stay safe and healthy and be kind to one another. And, of course, keep on rockin'.

A blast at VFW Post 845…

We said folks should bring their dancing shoes to the D-Town VFW gig last night and they did. The dance floor was jumping all night - except for the slow songs when it was more sedate - and people were having a great time movin' and groovin' to the music. You combine the awesome members of Post 845 with our amazing fans and you've got one hell of a party. We certainly had a blast. (And we went past curfew again!)

As always, the VFW crew was stellar - especially Sharon and Lovey behind the bar who were keeping the libations flowing all night. The kitchen crew (they wanted to remain anonymous) also did yeoman work. Great venue for live music and an all-around fun time. We'll be back on October 26th for the Halloween spectacular.

We keep things going with a return to the Local Tap next Saturday.

Again, thanks to all those who came out last night. We greatly appreciate the support; can't do this without you.

Until we see you again, stay safe and healthy and be kind to one another. And, as always, keep on rockin."

Our own March Madness at Eagleville Taphouse…

Great night at the Eagleville Taphouse. Good crowd, especially for a holiday weekend. A lot of our regular "peeps" were there (yes, we have "peeps" too, human ones, not the marshmallow ones that the Easter Bunny brings. Though maybe I should check my basket this morning- maybe he brought me some.) A lot of Breaking Curfew "newbies" too. They dug us and promised to check us out again. Always cool when that happens.

Thanks to Lee (who was solicitous of all our needs) and her crew for all their hard work.

Tomorrow the calendar turns to April. (Hard to believe it!) And April is another busy month for us. We start it off on Friday with a private party hosted by one of our first and most devoted fans. We're definitely excited about that. For the rest of the month's festivities check out our website. We're coming to a place near you.

As I always say: In the meantime stay safe and healthy and be kind to one another. And keep on rockin'.

SRO at The Dutch…

Standing Room Only at The Dutch last night- and what a night it was. There was sooo much positive energy last night. Folks were ready to party and party they did all night. We fed off their energy and rocked the place. There's not a lot of room for dancing but a few found space and the rest were our back-up singers all night. So cool.

As usual a lot of friendly faces - actually they were all friendly- but a lot of our fans as well as a lot of newbies to the band. We received so much positive feedback- that is so greatly appreciated by us.

The Dutch is an awesome place to party and have great time. We appreciate all the work the staff did the entire night. They were kept busy from beginning to end.

We're back at The Dutch on May 18th and we can't wait. We want to do it all over again. Hope you'll join us.

However, we're looking forward to next Saturday when we return to Eagleville Taphouse. That party starts at 7pm. Set your watches.

We want to say again how much we appreciate venues like The Dutch and people like you supporting live music. We couldn't do it without all of you.

In the meantime stay safe and healthy and be kind to one another. And keep on rockin'.

Kicked off St. Paddy’s weekend at Tom’s…

I know I sound like a broken record...but we had another great night, this time at the venerable Tom's in Royersford. The start of St Paddy’s weekend had folks ready to party. People came early to get a good seat right up front, near us and the dance floor. We saw a lot of our fans, some who traveled an hour to see us, as well as many, many friends. Here's more of the broken record... everyone had a great time, kicking off the St. Paddy's weekend, dancing and singing along to their favorite classic rock tunes. We had a blast as well, seeing everyone having so much fun.

As always, we appreciate the love and support that you all showed us last night. We can't do it without you.

Thanks also to Tom's awesome staff who took care of everyone so well. They were key to the party going strong all night.

And thanks to Anthony for giving us the opportunity to play there. We're back on July 19th so mark it on your calendars.

Next week on Saturday it's back to the Dutch for us. We're looking forward to rocking that place as well. Hope to see you there.

In the meantime, stay safe and healthy and be kind to one another. And keep on rockin'.

Standing room only at Marchwwod last night…

Standing room only at Marchwood Tavern last night. As our start time approached people kept pouring in the doors, all looking forward to partying with with us. Lots of energy.

As always, we saw a lot of familiar faces and some new ones. There was dancing and singing all night long; everyone having a good time. We broke out a couple of new (to us) songs and of course played a lot of our "bread and butter" stuff, classic rock songs that everyone loves.

During breaks we have an opportunity to chat with family and friends and also talk with some folks who are new to us. We enjoy all of that. One interaction from last night really stood out. Put this one in the "we love to hear/it never gets old" file. A woman who was sitting with five friends at a table came up to us at break and told us how much she loved our music. She had seen us for the first time at our recent Timothy's gig and loved us so much she checked out our schedule on our website, saw we were playing at Marchwood last night, put it on her calendar, and told friends they have to come with her to see this band called Breaking Curfew. And they did. All had a great time singing and dancing and they stayed through the very last song.

We know scenarios like this occur frequently and that's why our following continues to grow. We never take this for granted though. We know there are many entertainment options on a Saturday night so it means the world to us when people make the choice to come see us. We continue to work hard to put out the best show we can every time we play out and when we see people enjoying themselves it makes it all the more worthwhile (and fun) for us. We are grateful we have this opportunity.

As always, a big shout out to the Marchwood Tavern staff who did yeoman work all night keeping the food and drinks coming. All are professional and personable and they add a lot to the night's festivities.

We're off next weekend but we start a busy stretch for us on March 15th (a Friday!) at Tom's in Royersford. Mark it down.

In the meantime, be safe and healthy and be kind to one another. And, as always, keep on rockin'!

Epic night at Timothy’s…

Epic night at Timothy's...as predicted. Great crowd- friends, family, and fans all came out to party with us as well as a lot of Timothy's regulars. It was evident we made a lot of new fans as well as many came up between sets to tell us how much they enjoyed the music.

Plenty of dancing took place as well, whether on the floor on in seats, as everyone was groovin' (does that word show my age?) to the music. Classic rock hits everyone in the right spot- you smile and want to move.

It's been great having Jammin' James back and he's better than ever. We feel complete.

We have a couple weekends off but return to The Brickhouse (formerly Crafty's) on February 24th. That promises to be another fun night as it is always there.

As always be safe and healthy and be kind to one another. And keep on rockin.' We ain't stopping.

Standing room only at D-Town VFW…

What a blast last night at the Downingtown VFW. It was standing room only - so crowded they had to bring in extra bartenders and servers. But that's how we like it. And the dance floor was packed from the first song through the last and that's also how we like it. Everyone was having so much fun and there was so much party energy all night.

Great people there too; so appreciative of us and the energy we were putting out too.

We're back on April 13th and we've been promised a couple dates later in the year as well. We're grateful for the support.

Keep your eye out for photos from the gig last night- you'll see what I'm talking about.

Next up for us is Timothy's on February 2nd in Exton, PA. Mark your calendars and check out our 2024 tour dates on our Schedule page.

In the meantime, stay safe and healthy and be kind to one another. And keep on rockin'.

Big Phil’s was rockin’ and Jammin’ James is back!!!…

What a way to kick off our 2024 "tour". Big Phil's was packed and rockin' all night and it was awesome to have Jammin' James back. It felt and sounded like he was never gone. Plus, the warm welcome he got was phenomenal.

We had so many friends and family come out, many of whom had never seen the band before but promised they'll be coming back to other shows because they loved us. Everyone was having a great time singing and dancing along to every tune.

Big Phil's is an awesome place. Great food and drink and the entire staff is so attentive and friendly. And Big Phil is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and so supportive of the band. We're grateful to have four more gigs there this year.

So the tour continues next Saturday at the Downingtown VFW. Music starts at 7pm. Hope to see you there.

As I always say, stay safe and healthy, and be kind to one another. And keep on rockin'.

What a year…

The last few days of any year lend themselves to reflection on the year about to end. For Breaking Curfew it's safe to say 2023 was a successful year. There are numerous metrics we could use to measure success- number of gigs played, number of venues played, number of new followers, new songs learned, etc.- but the most important one for us is the joy we got from seeing so many people enjoying themselves when we jammed great classic rock tunes. Whether it was dancing, singing along, or just smiling we could see and feel the enjoyment being experienced by so many. That kind of connection is why we do what we do.

Now 2023 was not without its challenge. As you all know Jammin' James experienced a significant health challenge that put him on the sidelines for the last two plus months of the year. Concern for his health certainly cast a heaviness on us during that time. Thankfully, James has rebounded better and faster than expected and he'll be back in front of the band when we pick things back up in 2024.

In order to keep our commitments to you and the venues we were scheduled to play while James was out we called on some good friends to help us out. Mike Mullen and Tim Viall shared duties for the fundraiser gig and did an awesome job. However, extra special kudos go to Gregg Malack (of Garage Bandits) for his yeoman work fronting us for six gigs. A huge thanks to Gregg.

We can't express enough our gratitude for all the support we've received throughout the year. In particular, we are especially grateful for our spouses and their boundless support and encouragement of our commitment to the band and all it entails. And, of course, we appreciate the support of all of you, the breaking Curfew family.

We expect 2024 will be another good year for the band. Our schedule is filling up nicely and we anticipate adding more dates in the next few weeks. Check out our website to see when and where we're playing.

Happy New Year to you all! Be safe and healthy and be kind to one another. And, as usual, keep on rockin'.

See you next year. James, John, Rich, and Bill

Great 2023 finale at Marchwood Tavern…

So we ended our 2023 schedule on a high note last night at Matchwood Tavern. All our songs struck the right chord with the enthusiastic crowd that was primed to party. It's awesome to see classic rock tunes evoke reactions from people of all ages. Though the dance floor was not as full as it usually is, those not moved to shake their butts for all to see were dancing and singing in their seats. There were also the occasional yells for "more cowbell" coming from the far end of the bar (friends of Richie's of course.)

We appreciate Marchwood Tavern inviting us to perform there again; we will be back there four times in 2024. We're humbled by and appreciative of their support. And, of course, we're thankful for the support of all those who came out last night and partied with us. We had a blast.

We're off for a few weeks to spend time with our families over the holidays.

It's been a great year for the band; perhaps we'll reflect more fully on it in an upcoming post.

In the meantime, as we always say: be safe and healthy and be kind to one another. We hope you enjoy the holiday season however you celebrate it. And don't forget to keep on rockin'.

We tapped out the Local Tap…

We left the Local Tap tapped out last night with 3 hours of toe-tapping and hard-driving classic rock tunes. The Tap's locally sourced liquors, wines, and beers had everyone in a party mood from the start and the energy kept building all night. Once again we played past curfew as "one more song" was the chant. We're always happy to oblige, last night with "Highway to Hell" which, of course, had everyone singing along to the chorus. Great way to end the night.

We saw a lot of familiar faces last night and we appreciate the continuing support of our faithful fans. There were also some "newbies" to the band and we hope we converted them to fans as well.

Thanks to The Local Tap crew for their support last night. They made some awesome holiday specialty drinks (I had a few myself and they were delicious.) We'll be back next year so check our website for the dates.

Next up is Marchwood Tavern on Friday December 15th- our final gig of the year and what a year it's been for the band for a lot of reasons. (Jammin' James continues to do well with his recovery and we expect him back behind his mic and in front of the band early next year.)

As always, be safe and healthy, be kind to one another, and keep on rockin'.

Crafty’s gig? Ditto…

How was our night at Crafty's? Ditto to every other recent post. Sorry...struggling for different words to describe another fun night. Always a good crowd at Crafty's and last night's was really into it from the beginning. As always there were dancers all night, on the dance floor and in the aisles around the bar. There was a call for "one more song" at the end of our third set but this was one time we couldn't go past curfew. Oh well...

Thanks to everyone who came out last night and partied with us. And thanks to the awesome Crafty's staff for keeping the food and drinks coming all night and for being so supportive of us.

The year is coming to a close...two more gigs. Next week we're back at The Local Tap. Hope to see you there.

In the meantime stay safe and healthy, be kind to one another, and "keep on rockin."
