North Penn VFW coming up…
This Saturday, October 22nd, Breaking Curfew plays at a new venue for us, the North Penn VFW, which is located at 2519 Jenkintown Road in Glenside, PA. We are always psyched to play a new venue as it gives us another opportunity to show some new people what we're all about- and that's a good time with lots of classic tunes that everybody knows and loves. The party starts at 8pm. Hope to see you all there.
Great night at Tom’s..as usual…
Another fun night at Tom's! So good to return and jam our favorite classic rock tunes. Everybody there was digging the music, dancing in their seats and singing along. We appreciate the support from all who were there.
We also got to help celebrate a birthday and watch the Phillies beat the Cardinals to advance to the next round of the playoffs.
All in all a great night.
Thanks again to Anthony for inviting us to play. (We already have a couple more dates at Tom's in 2023.) And thanks to Jack and Andy for their support through out the night.
We’re back at it on October 22nd at a new venue for us, the North Penn VFW. Hope to see you all there.
In the meantime keep on rockin'.
Back to Tom’s…
We’re stoked to be returning to Tom’s this weekend, October 8th, at 8pm. As you know Tom’s is known as one of the best venues - if not the best- for live music in the area. We are proud to be a part of their live music schedule. The food, drink, and service are also fantastic. It’s always a great party night so we hope to see you all there.
A beautiful celebration…
This past Saturday we had the privilege to witness the wedding of our drummer Rich to his now wife Chris. It is awesome that these two wonderful people were able to recover from heartbreaking loss to find love again with each other. It was a beautiful ceremony and a fun and boisterous (in a good way) reception. So many family and friends were there to celebrate with them and wish them all the best as they begin this new chapter in their lives. They are truly loved and cherished by many. Way to go Chris and Rich!!!
Stellar night at Marchwood Tavern…
Well we nailed it at Marchwood Tavern- the back end of our weekend doubleheader. It was a great night, made more memorable by the birthday celebration of Jammin' James' wife, Deb (Edith) and by the commemoration of our drummer Richie Stix' last weekend as a single man. (He's marrying the band's number one fan, Chris Cope Price.) There were so many friends and family there in addition to our fans and many regulars from the Tavern and everyone- and I mean EVERYONE- had a great time. As always there were people dancing all night and the rest singing along. We even did one "band karaoke" number with one of our young fans and that was a blast. Nights like this remind us why we do what we do- it's so gratifying to see so many people having so much fun and forgetting about life for a few hours. Music will do that.
Thanks to Stephanie G. for inviting us to jam at Marchwood and kudos to her hard working staff who helped us get setup and kept the food and drinks flowing throughout the night. Couldn't have done it without all of them.
Next up is another of our favorite venues- the venerable Tom's in Royersford. We're there October 8th. Hope to see you there. In the meantime keep on rockin'.
Nailed it again at Cabana Bar…
Well our "summer music series" at Cabana Bar came to a close last night and it was a blast. Once again we enjoyed an enthusiastic crowd of singers and dancers. Everyone- including us- was into the party mode big time and it was a FUN night for all who were there. The energy kept building all night and our last set was awesome with the whole bar singing and dancing along with every song. And, as has been the case at each previous gig, we were asked to keep playing well past "curfew." Nobody wanted to stop but we had to.
We are so grateful to all our fans who came to all our gigs at Cabana Bar this summer. We saw many familiar faces but also many new ones at each gig. The Breaking Curfew crew keeps on growing.
We are also grateful to Steph Nous and Cabana Bar for giving us all those opportunities these past few months to jam our great classic rock tunes and share them with so many people. We'll look forward to doing it again there next summer.
Next up is Marchwood Tavern, tonight, September 17th, at 9pm. Hope to see some of you there. If not, keep on rockin' 'til we see you again.
Doubleheader weekend on tap…
We’re psyched to be returning to two of our favorite venues this weekend. First up, on Friday September 16th, we jam it out at Cabana Bar. This will be our fifth and final gig there for 2022. We are so grateful to have been given so many opportunities to play there this summer- every time has been a blast and we’re sure this Friday will be the same. Then, on Saturday September 17th, we return to the Marchwood Tavern in Exton where we will again rock the place like we did earlier this year. Looking forward to seeing you all this weekend.
Cabana Bar was a blast…
You may recall I wrote a few weeks ago, after our last gig at the Cabana Bar, that everything was in perfect alignment and it was a great gig. Well, I don't know if you can improve on perfect but we did last night. The place was absolutely packed- outside AND inside- and everybody stayed until the very last note of our second encore (which was, of course, past "curfew.") It was awesome watching everyone having such a great time. We played some stuff we hadn't in a while, some new stuff, as well as a lot of our "bread and butter" crowd favorites and the response was phenomenal.
Thanks go out to the great Cabana Bar staff as they worked hard all night keeping up with the needs of the crowd. They always ensure a great night for all with awesome food and drink and great service.
Well next up for us is...The Cabana Bar again! Yep, we'll be back for our 5th and final gig of the summer there. September 16th. We'll try to top last night's gig.
In the meantime, keep on rockin'.
Nailed it at The Duck…
Well our Duck debut was outstanding. This venue had been on a bucket list of places we wanted to play and it more than exceeded our expectations. Great (as in enthusiasm and size) crowd with sooo many familiar faces. As usual people were dancing and singing along to our tunes all night long. And, also as usual, we went past "curfew."
The staff at the Duck, led by Denise, could not have been more accommodating. They checked in with us frequently throughout the night to see if there was anything else we needed. Greatly appreciated.
We hope to be back of course; our schedule is pretty full the rest of the year so there was some discussion of booking dates in 2023. We'd love that.
Next up is one of our favorite places, the Cabana Bar, Saturday, August 27th from 7pm to 10pm. Hope to see you there.
Debut at The Duck Inn Taproom…
After a fun time at the private party this past Saturday we now look ahead to this Saturday night, Aug 20th, when we make our debut at the Duck Inn Taproom on Rt 29 in Collegeville. Pretty cool place right along the Perkiomen Creek. Good food, good friends, good times. We jam from 8pm to 11pm. We’ve been wanting to play there for a while and we’re grateful to have the chance. We’re going to do what we do and rock it out. Hope to see you there.
Our short break is over…gearing up for a busy end of August…
Hey Breaking Curfew fans- we've been quiet for a little while, vacationing and enjoying some R&R. But now the calendar has turned to August and we're gearing up for a busy month. We have a private party on the 13th and then we have our long-anticipated debut at the Duck Inn Taproom on the 20th. We finish the month at Cabana Bar (our 4th scheduled gig there this summer!) on the 27th. We can't wait to see you all again.
We rocked it at PFCSC…
Well we just finished up the second half of our double header weekend at the Phoenixville Fire Company Social Club and it was a great follow-up to last night's gig. Things started a little slowly- it seemed that no one wanted to be the first one on the dance floor. However, after a couple songs people couldn't hold back anymore and the floodgates opened. There were dancers the rest of the night. And even those not dancing- playing pool or darts or just hanging out- were singing along.
We were also lucky to be able to help with a few celebrations: 2 birthdays, a recent wedding, and a graduation.
The Social Club is a great place for bands - it's a big space overall and it has a large stage area. Best of all though are the members- some of the nicest people you'll meet and they appreciate well-played music. (We also greatly appreciate Amy and how hard she worked to keep the libations flowing.) And, of course, we brought along many of our own followers and they boosted the energy level.
We have a few weeks off due to vacations, etc. Our next gig is a private party on August 13th and then we make our debut at the Duck Inn Taproom on August 20th. We close out the month with another gig at the Cabana Bar on August 27th. We're psyched for all of these.
We’ll keep on rockin’ so we hope you will too.
Perfect alignment at Cabana Bar…
It was one of those gigs last night at the Cabana Bar when everything was in perfect alignment: the crowd, the music, the venue, the weather... From our first song all the way through to the last of our two (strongly requested) encores everyone there was locked into the music. It was literally standing room only and everyone was either singing along with the music or dancing to it (or both in a lot of cases.) The energy was so strong and it was flowing in both directions.
As is usually the case now we saw a lot of familiar faces but many new ones too who are now part of the Breaking Curfew crew. (We saw more lawn chairs too as that group is expanding!) Again, each of us in the band can't overstate how much we appreciate the support. Thank you all.
Tonight is the second half of our double header weekend. At 7 30pm we start rockin' the Friendship Fire Company Social Club in Phoenixville. It's guaranteed to be another awesome night as it always is there. Hope to see you. If not, keep on rockin' until we see you the next time.
Cactus Grill was hot…
Well we blew them away last night at the Cactus Grill- literally (we were a little loud) and figuratively (they loved us.) We had dancers all night long and those not on the dance floor were dancing and singing in their seats.
It's been a while since we played the Cactus Grill but we were reminded what a great place it is to play. It has that "Cheers" vibe which is created by the owner, Mary E., and all her staff. They truly do seem to know everyone's name and everyone there was so very appreciative of us and our music. We heard so much positive feedback and many people wanted to know when we're coming back. So many truly nice people.
We hope to return if we can find some open dates that jibe with Mary's for the Grill. We're going to do our best to make it happen. Of course, we'll keep you posted.
In the meantime, keep on rockin'.
We swept the weekend double-header…
You could say we swept our weekend doubleheader. We had a great gig at Tom's which followed an awesome gig at Cabana Bar. Not much new to say; both gigs were like so many others recently: an enthusiastic crowd of friends and loyal fans mixed in with some new faces. We are thankful to have such support.
We’re back at Cabana Bar on July 15th.
We return to Tom's October 8th.
Next up is our return to the Cactus Grille in Pipersville. Friday, June 24th, at 7pm. We'll rock that place too. Can't wait.
Back-to-back weekend…
OK gang, looks like a double shot weekend for the Breaking Curfew crew! We’ll be jamming that killer classic rock tomorrow night at the Cabana Bar in Skippack and then throwing a completely different set of songs your way on Saturday night at Tom’s Bar in Royersford. We got rained out at the Cabana Bar last month but the weather looks good this time around. (Fingers crossed.) Don’t forget to bring your beach chairs if you prefer hanging in the parking lot as many of you used to do. No beach chairs needed for Tom’s- just a desire to party hearty like we always do there.
Stellar gig at Washington Grille and Pub…
We wrapped up another stellar gig this time at the Washington Grille and Pub in Bechtelsville. Admittedly it wasn't the biggest crowd we've had recently, but as always it was an enthusiastic gathering of classic rock lovers. We saw some more new faces and, as always, some familiar ones, especially Rich's friends. They are such fun-loving, supportive, and loyal people. The band appreciates all the support we get at each and every gig. The positive feedback we receive is gratifying and tells us the hard work we put in every week in the garage pays off.
Thanks to Amanda and the rest of the Washington Grille staff for all their hard work. This is a great place for bands, very spacious. Our friends also gave glowing reviews of the food, service, and prices. Definitely a place to keep in mind for a great time.
There's been an addition to the band recently too. Tub's friend, Brian, graciously offered to do our sound and in less than a second we said "sure." He's taken our original sound system, added mics to the guitars and snare drum, and tweaked the knobs on our mixer to create an even fuller sound. We sound better than ever.
There are new photos and videos from the gig so check them out.
Next up is a return visit to Dominick's Saturday, June 11th, at 8pm.
Cabana Bar gig canceled…
Well the outdoor part of our schedule comes with some risks. We are at the mercy of the weather gods and we must have done something to piss them off because they’re sending us storms tonight. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. We’ve been looking forward to this gig for a long time.
On the bright side we have four more gigs scheduled at Cabana Bar, the next being June 17th. We’ll just have to wait until then to rock the place.
We’re into the outdoor portion of our schedule…
We had a very successful debut at Dominick’s Pizza and Pub. It has a very cool and spacious outdoor space and we filled it with great tunes and Breaking Curfew fans. Everybody was having a great time as usual. This was the first of five (count ‘em five) gigs there and we’re definitely excited about returning there throughout the summer.
Next up this Friday May 27th is the first of five (yes, count ‘em five) gigs at Cabana Bar this summer. This is one of our favorite venues and it too has a nice outdoor space that extends into the parking lot. (This is the home of the “lawn chair” people who have become some of our most loyal followers.) We anticipate another great night of classic rock under the stars- an awesome combination.
Neither rain nor wind…
…could keep us from our gig at The Dutch. After being snowed out of our March gig at The Dutch, we were super psyched to play there last night. The weather outside was miserable but the party inside was awesome. So many people said the hell with the rain and they came out and had a great time with us. The Dutch's outdoor space is awesome and we were warm and dry all night. We broke out some new (for us) classic rock tunes and played 3 1/2 hours of the best music ever made. We had dancers and birthday partiers and lots of people having fun singing along with us.
Thanks to The Dutch crew (especially Paige and Gabe) who were so helpful all night. We heard so many positive comments about the staff and the venue overall.
We'll be back in November. But next up (May 21st) is a new venue for us that we're really excited about: Dominick's in Chalfont.
As always, you can check out our entire 2022 schedule on the schedule page (duh.)
Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there. To everyone: keep on rockin'.
